Engineered immune cells take on Hard-to-Treat scleroderma in landmark trial

Summary
This study tests whether a one-time infusion of specially engineered immune cells (CAR T cells) can improve lung function and skin hardening better than current treatments for people with active systemic sclerosis, a rare autoimmune disease. About 92 adults with lung involvement will be randomly assigned to receive either the CAR T therapy or standard care. The main goal is to see if the new treatment can increase lung capacity and reduce disease activity.
