Can a targeted drug reach brain tumors? small trial aims to find out
NCT ID NCT06807619
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing whether the drug sotorasib can get into KRAS G12C+ brain tumors and how safe and effective it is. Sixteen adults with these tumors who are already scheduled for brain surgery will receive the drug. Researchers will measure how much drug reaches the tumor and track tumor response.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- sotorasib (AMG 510)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that sotorasib effectively targets KRAS G12C+ brain tumors, potentially leading to a new treatment option for this specific type of metastatic brain cancer.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 16 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drug may not penetrate brain tumors well or could cause side effects, and it is not designed to cure the disease.
