Brain 'Remapping' implant could let surgeons cut out more cancer
NCT ID NCT04745156
Summary
This pilot study is testing a new approach to help surgeons remove more of a brain tumor while protecting critical functions like movement and speech. Researchers will implant a small device that gently stimulates the brain to temporarily weaken a function, while physical therapy helps the brain 'remap' that function to a safer area. After this remapping, surgeons will attempt a second surgery to remove more of the tumor, potentially leading to better long-term outcomes for patients.
