Scientists search for common thread in brain disorders

NCT ID NCT07234851

Summary

This study examines donated brain tissue and lab-grown brain cells to understand how conditions like schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, Alzheimer's, and frontotemporal dementia affect the connections between brain cells (synapses). Researchers will analyze genetic and protein changes in these connections and measure how many connections are lost in different brain regions. The goal is to identify common biological problems that could lead to better treatments in the future.
