First seen Jan 25, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study observes brain activity related to speech in 80 people with Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, or dystonia who are already scheduled for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. Researchers will record electrical signals from brain regions involved in speech while participants perform speaking and listening tasks. The goal is to better understand how speech works in these conditions, not to provide a new treatment.
