Targeted radiation aims to fight cancer in the spine while sparing memory

NCT ID NCT06518057

Summary

This study is testing a specialized radiation technique for patients with breast or lung cancer that has spread to the fluid around the brain and spine. The goal is to see if precisely targeting the entire brain and spinal cord with radiation, while avoiding a key memory area, can better control the cancer's spread and cause fewer thinking and memory problems. Researchers will compare this new approach to standard radiation to see if it helps patients live longer without the cancer in their nervous system getting worse.
