New scan method may solve brain tumor vs. radiation injury puzzle

NCT ID NCT07632092

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether adding an early PET scan right after the injection can better tell the difference between a brain tumor coming back and damage from radiation therapy. About 50 adults with brain metastases who already need a PET scan will get an extra 15-minute scan right after the tracer is given. The goal is to help doctors choose the right treatment more accurately.
