Shoulder surgery study probes how nerve blocks impact brain blood flow

NCT ID NCT07398352

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at two different numbing methods for shoulder surgery: one that blocks nerves near the shoulder blade, and another that adds a block to the side of the neck. Researchers want to see how these methods affect oxygen levels in the brain and the size of the main neck artery. The study will involve 70 adults aged 18-65 who are in good health. The goal is to learn which method might be safer for brain function during surgery.
