NCT ID NCT07642674

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether giving the anti-inflammatory drug dexketoprofen through a vein can prevent or lessen the severe pain that often occurs when a nerve block wears off after shoulder surgery. About 66 adults having arthroscopic shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either standard pain treatment or standard treatment plus dexketoprofen. Researchers will track pain scores and the amount of extra pain medicine needed in the first 24 hours after surgery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
dexketoprofen (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give doctors a simple way to prevent severe pain after shoulder surgery when the nerve block wears off.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (66 people) and the drug may not reduce rebound pain significantly. NSAIDs also carry risks for some patients.
