Diabetes and dementia link: new brain study seeks answers
NCT ID NCT07374705
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at why people with diabetes have a higher risk of memory problems and dementia. Researchers will use brain scans and thinking tests to see if brain insulin resistance and damaged blood vessels play a role. About 150 adults aged 50-80 with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, plus healthy volunteers, will take part. The goal is to better understand how diabetes harms the brain, not to test a new treatment.
