Brain scans reveal hidden seizure networks in unconscious patients

NCT ID NCT06081283

Summary

This small study aimed to understand how FDA-approved seizure medications affect brain connectivity patterns in patients with serious brain injuries who have suppressed consciousness. Researchers used MRI brain scans to look for hidden seizure networks before and after giving seizure medications to up to 5 hospitalized patients. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how these medications work in the brain after injury, not to test a new treatment.
