Scientists use light to 'See' inside the brains of coma patients

NCT ID NCT07485361

Summary

This study is testing a portable, non-invasive brain scanner to see if it can detect brain activity in patients with severe consciousness disorders, like coma. Researchers will first test the scanner on healthy adults, then use it on patients in the intensive care unit to see if it works at the bedside. The goal is to gather information that could help doctors better assess a patient's level of awareness when they cannot speak or move.
