Ankle stirrups may speed recovery after fracture

NCT ID NCT07163091

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tests whether a less restrictive ankle stirrup works as well as a standard walker boot for adults recovering from an ankle fracture. About 1400 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two braces. The goal is to see if the stirrup reduces pain and improves function and social interaction three months after the injury, while possibly allowing a faster return to daily activities.
