First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether a gentle movement therapy called Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT) could help people with chronic lung disease (COPD) feel less breathless. 25 participants in Hong Kong took part. The therapy focuses on balance, free breathing, and mental awareness to improve self-management of symptoms.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Basic Body Awareness Therapy (a physiotherapy program focusing on movement, balance, and breathing awareness)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to help COPD patients feel less breathless and improve their quality of life.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, completed study with only 25 people and no control group. Results may not apply to all COPD patients, and the therapy may not work for everyone.
