Baby heart protein may flag teen health risks

NCT ID NCT07181733

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a protein called BNP, measured in babies and again in teenagers, can help identify teens at risk for metabolic syndrome (a cluster of conditions like obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes). Researchers will follow 70 adolescents who were part of a study at birth, including both premature and full-term babies. The goal is to find an early warning sign so that high-risk children can get help sooner.
