New device could make bone marrow transplants safer for blood cancer patients

Summary
This study tests a special device that removes certain immune cells from donated blood stem cells before transplant. The goal is to lower the risk of graft-versus-host disease, a serious complication where the donor cells attack the patient's body. About 50 adults with myelodysplastic syndrome (a type of blood cancer) will take part. The study is currently on hold.
