New transplant method aims to stop deadly complication, reduce need for lifelong drugs

NCT ID NCT05236764

Summary

This study is testing a modified stem cell transplant for adults and children with serious blood cancers or disorders. The goal is to treat the disease while reducing the risk of a dangerous complication called graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). Researchers are using a special machine to filter certain cells from a half-matched family donor's blood before the transplant, hoping this allows patients to stop taking strong anti-rejection drugs sooner.
