Nerve block tested to stop depression before it starts after mastectomy

NCT ID NCT06263907

Summary

This study is testing if a simple nerve-block injection in the neck, given before breast cancer surgery, can prevent depression and chronic pain from developing afterward. It will involve 140 women undergoing a mastectomy. The goal is to see if this preemptive approach reduces the need for antidepressants and improves recovery.
