Brain monitor may reduce Post-Surgery sickness in kids

NCT ID NCT07189845

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether using a brain activity monitor (BIS) during anesthesia can lower the chance of nausea and vomiting after surgery in children aged 3 to 8. Fifty-eight children having their tonsils removed took part. Half received standard anesthesia care, and the other half had anesthesia guided by the BIS monitor. The goal was to see if the monitor helped reduce sickness in the first 24 hours after surgery.
