New scan tech aims for sharper pictures of hidden tumors

NCT ID NCT04706910

Summary

This study is testing an improved version of a special PET scan called 18F-DOPA. The goal is to see if using a newer scanner and a common medication (furosemide) can make the images clearer, especially in the lower abdomen. This could help doctors better detect and plan treatment for conditions like neuroendocrine tumors, brain tumors, Parkinson's disease, and certain childhood cancers. The study will enroll 800 patients who are already scheduled for this type of scan for their medical care.
