New plan aims to bring more comfort and dignity to final moments in ICU
NCT ID NCT07368010
Summary
This study is testing whether a new, structured care plan can improve the final days for patients in intensive care who are on life support and for whom a decision has been made to stop that support. It will compare the new plan, which includes special training for staff on managing symptoms and supporting families, to the usual care currently provided. The goal is to see if this approach makes the dying process more comfortable for patients and less distressing for their loved ones and the medical team.
