NCT ID NCT07792954
First seen Aug 28, 2026 · Last updated Sep 04, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether berobenatide, a once-weekly injection, helps Chinese adults with overweight or obesity lose weight. About 300 participants will receive either berobenatide or a placebo for 48 weeks, with researchers tracking changes in body weight and safety. The study aims to see if the drug can produce meaningful weight loss and potentially reduce the risk of related health problems like heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- berobenatide (PF-08653944), an investigational once-weekly injection
- What this could lead to
- If it works, berobenatide could offer a new once-weekly treatment option to help people with overweight or obesity achieve meaningful weight loss and reduce related health risks.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage test in a specific population, and the drug may not prove more effective than placebo or may cause side effects. Results will take time and need confirmation in larger studies.
