First seen Jul 09, 2026 · Last updated Jul 10, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study investigates whether the Benson Relaxation Technique, a simple mind-body practice, can lower fear of childbirth, anxiety, and stress in pregnant women. About 60 women in their third trimester (weeks 28–38) will either practice the technique or receive routine care. Researchers will measure changes in anxiety using a standard questionnaire to see if the relaxation method makes a difference.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Benson Relaxation Technique
What this could lead to
If effective, this simple relaxation method could offer pregnant women a drug-free way to manage childbirth-related fear and anxiety.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with 60 participants, so results may not apply to all pregnant women. The technique may not significantly reduce anxiety or stress compared to routine care.
