NCT ID NCT07270718
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether taking 20 grams of beetroot powder daily for a week can help lower blood pressure in men with hypertension who are already on medication. Sixty men will be randomly assigned to either take the powder or continue their usual treatment, then switch after a week. The goal is to see if the nitrates in beetroot can improve blood vessel function and further reduce blood pressure.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
beetroot powder
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a natural dietary supplement to help control blood pressure in men with hypertension.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 men, and it uses a crossover design, so results may not be conclusive. The effect may be modest or not apply to women or other groups.
