Beetroot juice: the surprising sleep aid?
NCT ID NCT05864521
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether drinking beetroot juice, which is high in natural nitrate, before bed can change sleep patterns and how the brain controls blood flow. Researchers will give 60 healthy adults either active beetroot juice or a placebo and measure sleep stages, blood pressure, and nerve activity overnight. The goal is to understand the basic science, not to treat any disease.
