Heart reflex test may predict AFib return after ablation

NCT ID NCT04503122

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at 116 adults with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) who were scheduled for a procedure called ablation. Researchers measured baroreflex sensitivity—a non-invasive test of the body's automatic nervous system—before the procedure. The goal was to see if this measurement could help predict whether the irregular heartbeat would come back within a year. The findings could help doctors better select patients who will benefit most from ablation.
