Summary

This study tests whether adding the muscle relaxant baclofen to standard shingles treatment can better reduce moderate to severe pain. What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Baclofen
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, safe option to ease shingles pain and lower the risk of long-term nerve pain.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial without a phase, so results are uncertain. Baclofen may not work better than standard care and can cause side effects like drowsiness or muscle weakness.
