NCT ID NCT02513563
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This phase 2 trial tested whether adding an experimental drug called AZD1775 to standard chemotherapy (carboplatin and paclitaxel) could help people with advanced squamous cell lung cancer. The study enrolled 42 participants and measured how long they lived without their cancer getting worse. The goal was to see if the combination is safe and effective enough to pursue in larger studies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AZD1775 (also called MK1775) combined with carboplatin and paclitaxel chemotherapy
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a new treatment option for people with advanced squamous cell lung cancer who have few alternatives.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 42 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug combination may cause significant side effects and may not improve survival.
