Awake ear surgery: new anesthesia method could speed recovery

NCT ID NCT07275450

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study compares two ways to numb people for tympanoplasty (eardrum repair): traditional general anesthesia (being fully asleep) versus a targeted nerve block that keeps the patient awake. Researchers will enroll 128 adults to see which method allows faster discharge from the recovery room and causes less pain. The goal is to make ear surgery safer and more comfortable.
