Robot takes over IVF lab: will it beat human hands?
NCT ID NCT06581068
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new automated system called AURA that handles sperm, eggs, and embryos during IVF. About 150 patients will have their samples processed by the machine, while some eggs are handled the usual way for comparison. The goal is to see if the robot can perform lab tasks as well as humans, potentially making IVF more reliable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
AURA automated IVF system (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could make IVF more consistent and efficient by reducing human error in the lab.
What could go wrong
This is an early validation study with only 150 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The system may not perform as well as manual methods.
