First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests a new handheld OCT device that automatically aligns to the eye to take detailed pictures of the retina. Researchers will scan 50 healthy adults, adult patients, and children in eye clinics to see if the device works well. The goal is to make retinal imaging easier and more reliable for diagnosing eye diseases in children.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Auto-aligned handheld OCT device
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could make retinal imaging faster and easier for children, helping doctors diagnose eye diseases earlier.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The device is new and may not work as well as expected in real-world clinics.
