Aspirin may fight cancer return in patients with specific gene changes

NCT ID NCT02647099

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking low-dose aspirin daily can help prevent colorectal cancer from returning in patients whose tumors have certain gene mutations (PI3K pathway). The trial includes 626 people with stage II or III colon or rectal cancer who have had surgery. Researchers are measuring how long it takes for the cancer to come back or for patients to die from the cancer, comparing aspirin to a placebo.
