New fibromyalgia pain pill shows promise in early trial
NCT ID NCT03092726
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a daily pill called ASP8062 can reduce pain and improve daily life for people with fibromyalgia. 183 adults took either the drug or a placebo for 8 weeks. Researchers measured pain scores, side effects, and overall well-being. The trial is now complete, and results will show if ASP8062 is safe and effective enough to study further.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ASP8062 (a drug taken as a daily pill)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new daily pill to ease fibromyalgia pain and improve daily function.
What could go wrong
This is an early Phase 2 trial with only 183 people, so results may not hold up in larger studies. The drug may not reduce pain better than a placebo, and side effects are still being evaluated.
