New drug targets KRAS mutations in advanced cancers

NCT ID NCT07094204

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing a new drug called ASP5834 in people with advanced solid tumors that have certain changes in the KRAS gene. The study will first find a safe dose of ASP5834 given alone or with another drug (panitumumab) in people with colorectal cancer. Up to 364 adults with lung, pancreatic, colorectal, or other solid tumors that haven't responded to standard treatment may participate. The main focus is on safety and tolerability, not yet on curing the cancer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

ASP5834 (a drug targeting KRAS mutations) and panitumumab (a colorectal cancer drug)

What this could lead to

If this trial succeeds, it could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors that have specific KRAS mutations, especially those who haven't responded to standard therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early (Phase 1) study testing ASP5834 in humans for the first time. The main goal is safety and dosing, not yet effectiveness. Many early-stage drugs do not advance to later trials.
