First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether adding ashwagandha extract to standard schizophrenia medication (risperidone) could reduce inflammation and improve symptoms. 80 male patients took part. Researchers measured changes in a blood marker for inflammation (IL-1β) and used a standard symptom scale (PANSS) to track progress. The goal was to see if ashwagandha could be a helpful add-on therapy.
