New arm-measuring device could help breast cancer patients spot lymphedema early
NCT ID NCT07154771
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a newly developed arm circumference measurement device for patients who may develop lymphedema after breast cancer surgery. Researchers want to see if the device is more accurate, faster, and easier to use than the traditional tape measure. The study involves 35 patients and nurses who will take measurements using both methods. The goal is to improve monitoring of arm swelling, which is a common side effect of breast cancer treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
arm circumference measurement device
What this could lead to
If successful, this device could make it easier for patients and nurses to monitor arm swelling after breast cancer surgery, potentially improving early detection of lymphedema.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage usability study with only 35 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The device may not prove more accurate or practical than a simple tape measure.
