New pill aims to tame erratic heartbeats in common heart condition

Summary
This study tests whether a new medication, AP31969, can reduce the amount of time people with atrial fibrillation (AF) spend in an irregular heart rhythm. About 200 adults with AF will receive either AP31969 or a placebo pill for several weeks. The main goal is to see if the drug lowers the percentage of time the heart is in AF, measured by a small implanted monitor.
