Study reveals hidden recovery costs after Life-Saving heart surgery
NCT ID NCT07167628
Summary
This study looked back at medical records of 274 patients who had emergency surgery for a torn aorta (type A aortic dissection) at one hospital in Taiwan. Researchers wanted to understand how often patients experienced brain-related complications like strokes, paralysis, or coma after surgery. They also examined how these complications were linked to longer stays in the intensive care unit (ICU) and increased use of hospital resources like breathing machines.
