Antibiotics after kasai surgery may stop dangerous liver infections in infants

Summary

This study tests whether giving daily oral antibiotics to infants with biliary atresia after Kasai surgery can prevent cholangitis, a serious liver infection. About 356 babies will be randomly assigned to receive antibiotics or not, and their health will be tracked for two years. The goal is to see if antibiotics reduce infection rates without causing harm.
