First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving antibiotics before surgery can lower the amount of bacteria found inside oral cancer tumors. About 30 adults with oral cancer will receive metronidazole and a special mouthwash before their planned surgery. Researchers will compare bacteria levels in tumor samples taken before and after treatment to see if the antibiotics make a difference.
