One-Shot antibiotic could save thousands of Brain-Injured ICU patients

Summary
This large trial is testing if a single dose of a common antibiotic, given soon after a brain-injured patient is put on a breathing machine, can prevent dangerous lung infections (pneumonia). The goal is to see if preventing these infections helps patients survive and recover better from their brain injury. It will involve 3,300 adults in intensive care who are on a ventilator due to a stroke, head trauma, or similar severe brain injury.
