Summary

This trial tests whether using infection surveillance data to guide antibiotic selection can reduce antibiotic resistance in hospitalized cirrhosis patients with bacterial infections. About 198 adults with decompensated cirrhosis and a confirmed or suspected infection will be randomly assigned to receive either standard antibiotics or a regimen tailored based on local surveillance of resistant bacteria. The main goal is to see if the tailored approach lowers the rate of new resistant infections or colonizations within 28 days.
