First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a single dose of antibiotics works as well as longer courses to prevent infections in children with mild open fractures. About 800 kids aged 0-17 with grade 1 or 2 open fractures will be split into three groups: one dose, 24 hours, or 24 hours plus 5 days of oral antibiotics. The goal is to find the safest, most effective way to prevent infection while reducing unnecessary antibiotic use.
