First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looked at 60 children aged 3-8 who needed a procedure to close a hole in their heart. Researchers compared full general anesthesia to a lighter sedation with two medicines (dexmedetomidine and ketamine) plus numbing at the catheter site. They measured heart rate and blood pressure to see which method caused fewer changes during the procedure.
