New surgical approach aims to heal painful anal tears, reduce risk of incontinence
NCT ID NCT07268261
Summary
This study aims to improve treatment for chronic anal fissures, a painful tear in the anal canal that lasts over two months. Researchers are testing a combined surgical method that includes excising the fissure and injecting Botulinum Toxin (Botox) to relax the tight anal muscle. The goal is to improve healing and reduce the common post-surgery complication of anal incontinence (difficulty controlling gas or stool).
