Scientists investigate whether a diabetes drug can spark headaches in brain injury survivors

NCT ID NCT07340775

First seen Jan 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether pramlintide, a substance similar to a natural hormone, can cause migraine-like headaches in people who have had persistent headaches for at least a year after a mild traumatic brain injury. About 21 adults aged 18 to 65 will receive either pramlintide or a placebo, and researchers will track headache occurrence and intensity over 12 hours. The goal is to understand what triggers these headaches, not to test a treatment.
