First seen Nov 12, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether repeatedly adding sterile fluid into the womb can help babies born with missing kidneys or severe urinary blockages grow their lungs enough to survive. These conditions normally cause death from underdeveloped lungs. The goal is to keep the baby alive long enough to start dialysis or receive a kidney transplant. The study is in its earliest phase and involves 40 pregnant women.
