New scan could spot Alzheimer's hallmark before death
NCT ID NCT05641688
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a special PET scan using [18F]PI-2620 to see if it can accurately detect tau tangles in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease. About 200 adults aged 50 and older with a short life expectancy will get the scan. After they pass away, researchers will compare the scan results to actual brain tissue samples to see how well the scan works.
