Summary

This study tested whether a new drug called ALTO-100 can reduce depression symptoms better than a placebo. 301 adults with moderate to severe major depressive disorder took either ALTO-100 or a placebo pill for 6 weeks, either alone or alongside their usual antidepressant. The main goal was to see if ALTO-100 improved scores on a standard depression rating scale, especially in a pre-defined subgroup of participants.
