AI aims to improve colon polyp measurement for cancer prevention
NCT ID NCT06957015
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests an AI tool called EndoAIM that helps doctors measure the size of polyps found during a colonoscopy. Accurate size measurement is important because larger polyps (over 10 mm) have a higher risk of becoming cancer. The study will enroll 278 adults undergoing colonoscopy to see if the AI improves measurement accuracy compared to standard methods.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- EndoAIM (AI software device used during colonoscopy)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this AI tool could help doctors more accurately measure polyp size, leading to better decisions about cancer risk and follow-up care.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study with 278 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. The AI may not perform better than current methods, and technical issues could affect accuracy.
